Evolution of Project Brief:

The project for the Backbone Cardboard Free-Standing Display Unit (FSDU) underwent several modifications during the planning phase, encompassing adjustments to loading size and finishing details such as transitioning from hooks to pigeon holes to achieve the final product composition.

Design and Construction Strategy:

The FSDU was conceived as a flat pack, assembled within each individual store. Emphasis was placed on simplicity in assembly, ensuring stability in the constructed unit. Additional considerations included the need for the shipper units to be easily transported in the back of a standard hatchback car, facilitating convenience in transportation and setup.

Processes:

1. Material Specification and Optimisation:
– Specified the correct material, optimising usage to ensure cost-effectiveness while adhering to the budget constraints.

2. Technical Drawings for Product Placement and Security:
– Produced detailed technical drawings capable of securely holding 12 live products, incorporating Spyder security measures for enhanced product protection.

3. Prototyping:
– Executed a two-phase prototyping process, starting with plain white samples to validate structural integrity, followed by printed samples to assess the visual impact and alignment with the brand.

4. Design Redefinition:
– Modified the initial Eurohook design to the final pigeon hole configuration, generating new technical drawings to accommodate this change.

5. Print Production Management:
– Oversaw the print production process, ensuring adherence to design specifications and obtaining press approval for quality control.

6. Global Shipping Coordination:
– Managed the shipping logistics to distribution centers across EMEA, CE, and APAC, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.

Outcome:

The adaptable design approach and meticulous execution of the Backbone Cardboard FSDU project resulted in a versatile and cost-effective display solution. The final product not only met the evolving project brief but also achieved stability, ease of assembly, and efficient transportation – key elements contributing to the success of the display in various retail environments across multiple regions.
